Kenya: WASH Officer (Kenya National)

IsraAID, an Israel-based humanitarian aid agency, is looking for a project coordinator to assist in the management and implementation of a water and sanitation training program in Kakuma refugee camp in Kenya.

The position offers an exciting opportunity to get hands-on experience in non-profit project management in Africa and lead innovative grass-roots activities in the field.

The job requires relocation to Kakuma, Kenya.

Minimum qualifications:

  1. Advanced educational background in science and/or water/environmental/agricultural engineering/Water technician diploma.
  2. Be legally employable in Kenya.
  3. Proved experience in teaching/facilitation
  4. Knowledge and skills in a water quality laboratory
  5. Excellent English, both written and oral.
  6. Strong interpersonal and team skills, management experience preferred.

Preferred qualifications:

  1. Agricultural background
  2. Experience working in non-profit organizations.
  3. Experience working in the international sphere.
  4. Experience working in the water industry, arid areas preferable

The position includes but not limited to:

  1. Coordinating the implementation of training programs in the field of Water, sanitation and hygiene in a refugee camp in Kenya in tandem with IsraAID's Kakuma WASH Program Manager, Programs Director and Kenya Country Director.
  2. Supervising IsraAID’s Introduction to WaMTech Training Program.
  3. Teaching Introduction to WaMTech, as needed.
  4. Supervising IsraAID’s water quality testing laboratory.
  5. Supervising IsraAID’s hygiene promotion teams.
  6. Participate in and supervise day to day WASH program activities and operations
  7. Development of technical training programs.
  8. Implementing training programs in collaboration with local staff.
  9. Managing logistics, coordinating supply inventory, and general administration of a technical training project.
  10. Representing IsraAID at meetings with government, community members, NGOs and the UN.
  11. Monitoring, evaluation and reporting on all IsraAID WASH projects.
  12. In-job training to take over the long-term WaMTech Program.
  13. Step into leading new WASH projects and partnerships as they arise in the course of the contract.

Hiring Conditions:

  1. Relocating to Kakuma refugee camp, Kenya.
  2. IsraAID will cover living expenses while in Kakuma including, accommodation stipend, medical expenses related to the employment and meals.
  3. 5.5 working days weekly. 5 days off every 8 weeks.
  4. 12 month contract, with a 3 month probationary period.
  5. This is a paid position.
